Horn- & Liverworts

This checklist contains all currently known hornworts and liverworts of the Galapagos Islands. The list is based on Gradstein (2009) and comprises the following taxonomic divisions:

Hepatophyta (liverworts):
either with stems and leaves (foliose liverworts) or composed of lobes, i.e., without stems and leaves (thalloid liverworts), rhizoids unicellular, cells usually with oil bodies, elaters among spores present.
Anthocerotophyta (hornworts):
without leaves, rhizoids unicellular, elaters among spores present.
