Mosses

This checklist includes the mosses currently known to occur in the Galapagos Islands. It is based on collections made over the past two centuries by various collectors, mostly deposited in collections outside Galapagos, and some recent specimens held at the Herbarium of the Charles Darwin Foundation.

Musci (mosses) have developed stems, leaves, and pluricellular rhizoids, elaters among spores are lacking.
