Charles Darwin Foundation Galapagos Species Checklist

Arrow Worms

These long transparent worms are named for their arrow-like shape. With one exception, this small group consists entirely of ocean dwellers. Hooks on the head are used to capture prey. The worms are hermaphrodites with reproductive organs, swimmerets, and intestines located in a trunk. Chaetognats are important indicator species of habitat and water quality.
