“Protect the Fins” Campaign and its Impact on the Community

The “Protect the Fins and the Ocean Wins” campaign comes to an end. We shared the results of its impact with the groups with whom we worked: We reached 1441 local children, held events for the community, field trips, a dance performance, and an analysis of the perceptions of sharks from before and after the campaign. Re-sightings of captive-bred Mangrove Finch

Positive results have been obtained from the Mangrove Finch Project with the re-sighting of captive-bred finches released since 2014 when the project began. So far, 36 finches have been successfully released to the mangrove forests of Isabela where the only population of this species is found. Soon we will have more information about the project since the breeding season is about to start. Monitoring Penguins and Cormorants in the West of the Galapagos

During the last penguins and cormorants monitoring activity of 2016, we crossed the west of the archipelago to tag and estimate the number of individuals that exist in the area. These species are vulnerable to natural impacts such as climate change and human impacts as introduced species so their monitoring is key for their conservation.
