Objective:
The Charles Darwin Foundation (CDF) is a non-profit organization, dedicated to research for conservation and sustainable development of the Galapagos Islands (Ecuador, South America). We are currently seeking to strengthen our science team by incorporating experienced researchers in the five following themes:
Responsibilities:
1) Biodiversity baselines and collections - taxonomist
2) Monitoring of ecological changes - ecologist skilled in the development of cost effective and statistically sound monitoring strategies
3) Community and ecosystem processes - ecologist skilled in modelling of terrestrial and /or aquatic systems (including fisheries systems)
4) Social Sciences and human geography - a social scientist experienced with the analysis of island communities
5) Solutions for ecological restoration - ecologist experienced with rare species recovery, introduced species management, ecosystem restoration, disturbed ecosystem modelling
Competencies:
This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with a strong scientific background, including a Ph.D. in biological or social sciences, combined with a minimum of 5 years experience in scientific research and project management. Strong consideration will be given to applicants with a good command of English and Spanish.
