Ainoa Nieto

Researcher

Ainoa is a Spanish wildlife veterinarian from Complutense University of Madrid. Since 2016, she has been working for the Charles Darwin Research Station as researcher and veterinarian. She was the interim Principal Investigator of the Galapagos Tortoise Movement Ecology Programme for over two years.

She is currently affiliated to the Charles Darwin Foundation and the Saint Louis Zoo Institute for Conservation Medicine as associate researcher. She is interested in the health interface between wildlife, domestic animals, and humans and how anthropogenic activities in Galapagos are affecting wildlife and ecosystem health. Ainoa is currently conducting health assessments on wildlife species, including giant tortoises, birds, and iguanas to contribute to their conservation and well-being.
