Stephen Blake

Dr. Stephen Blake has been involved in ecology and conservation in the tropics for nearly 30 years. He worked on forest conservation in Central Africa for nearly 20 years before moving to Galapagos.

In 2009, he started the Galapagos Tortoise Movement Ecology Programme on behalf of the Max Planck Institute, the Galapagos National Park, and the Charles Darwin Foundation. Stephen is particularly interested in using the results from ecological research to inform science-based conservation strategies for tortoises and their habitats. Since 2017 Stephen works as full-time professor for the Saint Louis University in Missouri.
