Keith Christian

General Assembly Member

Keith is a zoologist who primarily studies the physiology and ecology of reptiles and amphibians. As a PhD student at Colorado State University, Keith studied the spatial and thermal ecology of the Santa Fe land iguana in 1978-1979. He subsequently worked at the University of Wisconsin, the University of Puerto Rico, and Flinders University in South Australia. In 1987 he was a foundational member of a new university in Darwin, Northern Territory of Australia which became Charles Darwin University (CDU).

Keith has held numerous positions at CDU, and in 2018 he led a group of CDU students on a study tour of the Galapagos Islands. His current research includes projects on the evolution and physiology of a diverse group of geckos in northern Australia and the microbial communities found on the skin of amphibians and reptiles. He became a General Assembly member of CDF in 2019.
