Jhon Hamilton Chango

Field Assistant

Jhon was born on Floreana, the first island colonized by people in the Galapagos Archipelago and, paradoxically, the one with the smallest population. This particularity allowed nature to be an intrinsic part of his life and gave birth to his love for the flora and fauna of the Galapagos.
He had the opportunity to be part of the Galapagos Verde 2050 program as a volunteer. Upon becoming involved with the conservation of his home and the actions taken to help the environment recover from the impact caused by humans, he became fascinated. He is currently working as a Field Assistant on the island where he was born and is in charge of recovering and preserving the endemic and native flora of Floreana.

Jhon served at CDF until May 31, 2022.
