Gabriela Rodríguez

Social Scientist Senior

Gabriela Rodríguez Jácome is a geographer (PhD). She has been working for the last fifteen years in local development and natural resources management. Currently, she is working as a social scientist at the Charles Darwin Foundation (CDF) in the Galapagos islands. Throughout her time at CDF, Gabriela has been working with a wide range of stakeholders in ocean conservation, food systems and, regenerative livelihoods. She promotes nature conservation as a pillar of human existence. Furthermore, she considers creative processes to be a fundamental key to social science innovation in her field.

During her career, she has obtained six scholarships and, in 2021 she has awarded the Extraordinary Doctoral Prize of the Autonomous University of Barcelona for the excellence of her Doctoral thesis. Gabriela grew up traveling between different local communities and places besides her anthropologist parents. Later, she lived in different countries in different continents learning from different cultures. This trajectory highly motivated her to get involved in societal and sustainability challenges. In addition to her research career, she is also a coach in transpersonal psychology, and is passionate about leading processes of social transformation.
