This simple-to-use bird guide is designed to facilitate species identification as well as provide information about the landbirds of the Galapagos Islands, including the iconic Darwin’s finches. The guide gives a brief overview of the threats and conservation status of the 34 native and endemic landbirds that breed regularly in the Galapagos islands. For each species, the guide provides a photo ID and information on diet, distribution and other aspects of their biology.

This guide was written by ornithologists from Charles Darwin Foundation and Flinders University and is the result of extensive long-term research and monitoring efforts carried out by members of the Landbird Conservation Program. This program is coordinated by the Charles Darwin Foundation and the Galapagos National Park Directorate and counts on the help of Galapagos residents, visitors and researchers from around the world.
