Fernando Araujo

Director of Finance

Fernando Araujo joined the Charles Darwin Foundation in October 2023 to manage its finance department.

Fernando is a seasoned professional with 24 years of experience in accounting, finance, and auditing. Over his career he has worked for a range of national and multinational companies with a risk-based approach. He has also been actively involved in fundraising projects, and has served as Board member of several companies such as Bwise Group and Paymovil.

Over the last 10 years as a Financial Controller, he has wielded his expertise in developing financial models, business plans, and a wide range of financial control activities.

As Audit Manager, Fernando has led a range of activities, from financial planning and financial auditing to commercial project development, across companies including AT&T, Ecuador Bottling Company (Coca Cola), Phillip Morris International, Unilever, Chubb Ecuador, Pan-American Life, AIG, Fundación Natura, IBM and many more.

Fernando holds an Engineering Business Administration degree, a Certificate in International Financial Reporting Standards, and a degree as Business Administration Specialist. He is currently doing an MBA.

He enjoys spending time with his family and practices triathlon.
