Juan Barreno Oñate, hailing from the picturesque province of Tungurahua and born in the charming Quero, has a captivating history intricately connected to the Galapagos Islands. His journey to this paradisiacal place began in 1987. However, his association with the Charles Darwin Foundation (CDF) commenced in 2002, initially as a temporary staff member responsible for gardening and office cleaning.

Within a year, Juan earned a promotion to the position of custodian, where he excelled until 2013. In 2014, he entered a new phase of his career by assuming the role of messenger at the CDF, a position he has diligently held to the present day.

Juan Barreno Oñate's responsibilities as a courier go beyond document and correspondence transportation; his dedication extends to providing comprehensive support in both administrative and scientific domains. His active and versatile involvement has significantly contributed to the seamless and efficient functioning of the Foundation.
