Christmas Bird Count 2023: Learn, play and collect!

December is here and the Charles Darwin Foundation, in collaboration with Fundación Jocotoco, Galapagos Conservation Trust, Galapagos Science Center of the USFQ and Fundación ECOS are preparing to motivate the love for birds with our long-awaited annual event: Christmas Bird Count! This year, we present you with a collectible album that will make your exploration of these species more exciting than ever, with the chance to win fabulous prizes!

How to Participate?

Sign up: Starting December 1, sign up to receive your album by calling the ECO Program phone numbers:

Capture Photos: During this month, go out with your family and capture photos of birds to complete your album. Make sure to take photos in different settings!

Redeem Stickers: For every 5 photos of the same species, redeem a sticker at the ECO Program offices, Monday through Friday, from 08:00 to 12:30 and from 14:00 to 17:00.

BONUS Photos: If you capture BONUS bird photos, you will have two chances to participate in the drawing for the 3 grand prizes.

Delivery and Drawing:

Turn in your filled album at the ECO Program offices on your island until January 26, 2024. Prizes will be awarded from February 7 to 9, 2024 at the ECO Program offices on each island.

The draw will take place on January 31, 2024.

The Christmas Bird Count is a collaborative initiative led by the Charles Darwin Foundation, in partnership with other institutions, that aims to engage the public in understanding the population status of these species and promoting their protection.
