Field Assistant

Mauricio Mogro is an Ecuadorian biologist with experience in environmental monitoring, wildlife conservation, and geospatial analysis. He graduated from Universidad Laica Eloy Alfaro de Manabí and has complemented his training with certifications in drone operation, wilderness first aid, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), enhancing his ability to work in complex natural environments.

He currently serves as a Project Assistant at the Charles Darwin Foundation, where he supports the logistics of field monitoring campaigns and operates drones to study sea turtle presence. His work includes processing geospatial data, analyzing coastal habitats using digital elevation models (DEMs), and developing reproducible workflows that strengthen scientific traceability. He also contributes to outreach and environmental education efforts, helping connect science with local communities.

Mauricio has collaborated on research focused on environmental impacts in sensitive ecosystems, sea turtle monitoring, and multispectral habitat analysis. By combining fieldwork with scientific data processing, he helps generate valuable information for conservation decision-making and actively supports biodiversity protection in the Galápagos Islands.
