Solange Andrade

Research Assistant

Solange Andrade Vera holds a bachelor´s degree in biology from the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL), Guayaquil. Since 2016, she has been working as a Research Assistant in the Interdisciplinary Fisheries Project at the Charles Darwin Foundation. Her largely research revolves around biological and ecological studies, with particular emphasis on the life histories of vital species to the artisanal fishing sector in the Galapagos Islands.

Living in the Galapagos has given Solange first-hand experience with the complex interactions between humans and local species, their environmental importance, and integrating the unique local ecological knowledge of fishers. Through her work, Solange has gained a comprehensive understanding of some fish species´life histories, their ecological interactions, and with human interactions in a marine protected area.
