Harvey Fineberg

Dr. Harvey V. Fineberg is a distinguished leader in global health, science, and philanthropy. He stepped down as president of the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation at the end of 2025 after 11 years of strategic leadership and previously served as president of the U.S. National Academy of Medicine, provost of Harvard University, and dean of the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. Before entering philanthropy, he devoted most of his academic career to health policy and medical decision-making, with research spanning global health, medical technology assessment, vaccine evaluation, pandemic response, and the adoption of medical innovation.

Dr. Fineberg has chaired the boards of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, and the Science Philanthropy Alliance. He currently chairs the China Medical Board and the advisory board of the Peterson Center on Healthcare. He sits on the editorial board of the New England Journal of Medicine and advises other institutions, including the Veolia Environment Institute, the Singapore National Research Foundation, and the Stanford Center for Digital Health.

He is co-author of several books, co-editor of influential volumes on vaccines, risk, and global health, and the recipient of multiple honorary degrees and major awards recognizing his contributions to public health and research.
