Melania García
Junior Collections Assistant
Melania García began her career as a volunteer collaborating with the Marine Organisms Collection and the Deep-Sea Project in 2021. She is currently part of the staff of the Natural History Collections, as Marine Collection Assistant, where her work focuses on specimen curation and the documentation of biodiversity from the Galápagos Marine Reserve.
She has actively contributed to the updating of the database, as well as to the publication on the distribution of the species Tyrannodoris leonis, integrating information from scientific collections and citizen science records.
Her professional goals are oriented toward contributing to biodiversity conservation through collection management, scientific research, and the curation and digitization of biological specimens from marine and insular ecosystems.
