Sofía Aguilar

Field Assistant

Sofia is passionate about research and the Galapagos Islands. She joined CDF in January 2024 as a Field Assistant for the "Social, Ecological and Piscographic Carrying Capacity" project in the area of Sustainability. Graduated with honors in Sociocultural Anthropology from “Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Ecuador” in 2022. She volunteered at the Galapagos National Park in the "Fausto Llerena" breeding center and at the CDF in the "Science Department" in 2023 and fell in love with the Galapagos Islands and their nature, which led her to become interested in interdisciplinary work in the social and natural sciences for conservation and sustainability. She was an outstanding athlete in the Pichincha National Artistic Skating Team. She speaks Spanish, English, and has knowledge of Kichwa and Italian.
