Lenyn Betancourt-Cargua

Principal Curator of the Collection of Terrestrial Invertebrates.

Galapagos biologist who began his association with the Charles Darwin Foundation (CDF) in 2004, collaborating as a volunteer for various scientific projects in the marine and terrestrial areas of Galapagos. After this volunteer experience he received a scholarship from the CDF to carry out his thesis for the completion of his Bachelor´s degree in Biology, related with community participation and the study of introduced terrestrial invertebrates.
Lenyn also has experience in education, as for six years he was part of the CDF Communications staff. He worked as an educator and promoter of environmental education, focusing on the conservation and sustainable development of the Galapagos Islands. Now, he has a Master’s degree in Biodiversity and Conservation of Tropical Areas. Since 2014, he has been part of the multidisciplinary team of Natural History Collections (CDF) as Curator of the Collection of Terrestrial Invertebrates.
