DR. ITOW AND THE SCALESIA FORESTS

Dr. Syuzo Itow, a Japanese botanist and professor at Nagasaki University, was a key figure in the study of Galápagos. He researched the Scalesia forests, helped secure long-term support for botanical work at the Charles Darwin Foundation, and in 2005 founded the Japanese Association of Friends of Galápagos (JAGA), fostering scientific and cultural exchange between Japan, Galápagos, and the Ogasawara Islands.

Adopt a Little Vermilion Flycatcher

Little Vermilion Flycatcher populations are declining at a rapid rate due to the impacts of invasive species, particularly on the island of Santa Cruz where only 30 breeding pairs are found. By adopting a Little Vermilion Flycatcher you will help us restore their habitats and reduce the impacts of invasive species. Your donation will also enable us to investigate ways to recover the species on the islands where it has disappeared.
