A Galapagos native, the pillar of her family, and deeply committed to the well-being of her home, Zoila has dedicated her professional career to strengthening the management of the archipelago. An engineer by trade, she is a firm believer that strategic planning and the harmony between community and nature are the key to fostering positive change in the islands where she grew up.

With a solid background that merges public management and conservation, she has led key areas of planning, operational direction, and local governance with empathy and technical rigor, while also collaborating with international cooperation for the sustainable development of the region.

Since June 2026, Zoila has brought her collaborative leadership to the Charles Darwin Foundation as Officer in Charge of the Executive Director´s Office. For her, this role represents a deeply meaningful homecoming, as she proudly carries forward a family legacy of love for the islands that began decades ago when her father took his first professional steps within this very foundation.

Her daily goal is to facilitate the processes that make scientific excellence possible, ensuring a real impact for the conservation of this unique world heritage.
