The Charles Darwin Foundation Presents the Documentary: Galapagos, Hope for the Future

--Press Release-- This is the first documentary about the Charles Darwin Foundations and the work of the Galapagos National Park.

As part of its 60th anniversary of scientific research within the Galapagos Archipelago, the Charles Darwin Foundation (CDF) attended the premiere of the documentary, Galapagos, Hope for the Future hosted by the COmON Foundation. The premiere took place in Amsterdam, on the 28th of October and was attended by the Dutch Royal Family and European celebrities.

Galapagos, Hope for the Future was directed by Evert Van Den Bos, a Dutch director and producer. It highlights the work currently being done in the Galapagos. It also discusses the future of the Charles Darwin Foundation, the efforts of the Galapagos National Park Directorate and the importance of continuing to support the conservation of the islands. It includes various CDF projects such as seabird research, shark studies, analysis of the Galapagos fisheries and giant tortoise migration among others.

The film has been funded by the Netherlands-based COmON Foundation to promote conservation work of this unique UNESCO World Heritage Site. The documentary will be released on the 9th of November in Puerto Ayora, Galapagos for the CDF’s General Assembly members, as well as local and national authorities. It will be screened free of charge for the local community, including schools, on the 11th and 12th of November at the Miguel Cifuentes Community Centre at 8:30 AM, 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM

In Quito, the film will be released at the Capitol Theatre during a private event on the 12th of December. It will also be screened in several cinemas across the country from January 2020 onwards.
This is the first documentary that includes the work of the Charles Darwin Foundation and the Galapagos National Park Directorate, making it a unique project.
