The Charles Darwin Research Station has been recognized as Travellers' Choice 2020

---Press Release--- The Charles Darwin Research Station (CDF) is now considered one of the best attractions in the Galapagos Islands. The CDF became one of the winners of the Travellers' Choice 2020 Award which was given out by TripAdvisor. This award is given out to the best destinations, airlines, accommodations, attractions and experiences, restaurants in tourist towns around the world.

The award is measured on the ratings left by tourist that visit the CDF. There reviews and rating can be found on the TripAdvisor website. The calculation of this award also featured the recommendations, opinions and votes of the more than 3000 visitors who came to the Galapagos Islands and visited the CDF. Thanks to all these reviews, the CDF has won the award this year.

María José Barragán P. acting Executive Director of the CDF stated that "the existence of the CDF for six decades and the presence of our research station has become an important part of the visit that thousands of tourists make to the Galapagos, every year, and also of the inhabitants of the islands that live on or arrive in Puerto Ayora. A visit to our campus allows us to know some of the work that our institution does, and the contribution it has made to scientific development and knowledge about the Galapagos."

The Charles Darwin Research Station is a destination in Puerto Ayora, of high tourist interest. The campus offers visitors: the ‘Van Straelen’ Marine World and a library with the largest collection of book related to the  Galapagos islands  in the world. An exhibition hall with information on current and past science and conservation projects, just outside is the ‘House of shade’ which is part of the Galapagos Verde 2050 project, surrounding the CDF are gardens with native plant species.

The Charles Darwin Research Station is the hub of research work in the Galapagos essential for generating information and produce scientific knowledge to provide technical assistance and support decision-making by local authorities. This is part of our agreement with the Ecuadorian Government to support the conservation of Galapagos.

Every year, TripAdvisor sums all the reviews and scores from favourite destinations globally, which share travellers from all over the world and highlight the best places to visit. The "Best of the Best of Travellers' Choice 2020" awards are awarded to only 10% of sites and locations in the world.
