Santa Cruz is our home, and it is in crisis
What is happening
Heavy rains have caused severe flooding on Santa Cruz Island. Homes have been flooded, families have been forced to evacuate, and many people urgently need basic supplies such as food, water, medicine and hygiene products.
Authorities have declared a state of emergency, and the official response is being coordinated by the COE Cantonal de Santa Cruz (Emergency Operations Committee).
Santa Cruz has been our home for 67 years. Most of our team lives here, and some of our own colleagues and their families are among those affected.
A safe way to help
Many people in Galápagos, mainland Ecuador and around the world have asked us how they can help safely. That is why the Charles Darwin Foundation has opened a verified account for this emergency fund.
We are not a humanitarian organization, and we do not seek to replace those working on the ground. Our role is to offer a trusted channel so that support from anywhere can reach the official emergency response.
Where your donation goes
100% of what we receive goes to the COE Cantonal de Santa Cruz, which directs the funds to the most urgent needs of affected families, such as non-perishable food, drinking water, basic medicine, hygiene and cleaning supplies, diapers and baby products.
CDF does not manage these funds or decide how they are used. CDF charges no fees and keeps nothing from this emergency fund.
Our commitment to transparency
We will publish on this page the total raised and proof of delivery to the COE Cantonal de Santa Cruz.
