This guide is the result of extensive research and long-term monitoring carried out by members of the Land Bird Conservation Program. This program is coordinated by the Charles Darwin Foundation and the Galápagos National Park Directorate, with the support of researchers from around the world, as well as residents and visitors to Galápagos. The program was established in 2014 in response to concerns about the decline of some of Galápagos’ iconic bird species, including several of Darwin’s finches.

This book describes the resident land birds of the Galápagos: 30 species of small terrestrial birds (passerines, cuckoos, and doves), 4 species of rails, 1 hawk, and 2 owls.
