Ana Victoria Moya
Junior Researcher - Sea Turtle Conservation Program
Ana Victoria is a local researcher with 12 years of experience working in marine conservation. She graduated with a degree in marine biology from the International University of Ecuador in 2015. In 2019, she won a scholarship to pursue an inter-university master’s degree in Belgium at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Ghent University, and the University of Antwerp.
Her career at the Charles Darwin Foundation began as a thesis student, where she conducted a project on primary productivity in the seamounts off Puerto Ayora. Upon graduating, she returned as a volunteer for the Shark Ecology Project. After completing her master’s degree in Belgium, she returned to Ecuador and rejoined the foundation as a Junior Researcher in the Shark Ecology program. She currently works in the CDF’s Sea Turtle Conservation Program as a Junior Researcher, supporting the protection of these incredible species and learning new research methods.
From a young age, she knew she wanted to work to protect the oceans, especially those off the coast of Ecuador.

Sea turtle conservationImportant feeding and nesting sites for the endangered East Pacific green turtle in Galapagos are increasingly threatened by tourism, marine traffic and climate change. Our research is helping to identify the key areas where sea turtles are most vulnerable, and to develop solutions to protect them in the long term.
