Hannah Wood
Director of Strategic Partnerships, Europe
Hannah works at the intersection of nature, climate and conservation, with a focus on building strategic partnerships, mobilising philanthropy and strengthening networks that drive lasting impact. Her experience spans Africa, Asia and Europe across global philanthropy, impact finance and field‑based conservation, where she has worked to connect funders, practitioners and communities around shared environmental goals.
Early in her career, Hannah travelled across Australia and Asia teaching Business English before settling in East Africa, where she spent fifteen years living and working across both the public and private sectors. She worked with the UK Foreign Office on climate and conservation priorities, and later with a leading luxury hospitality group to design and deliver corporate philanthropy and conservation initiatives on the ground.
She went on to work within a large Swiss financial institution, partnering with major trusts, foundations, corporates and non‑profit organisations across the biodiversity and climate space. Through this, she developed deep relationships across the conservation landscape and a strong practical understanding of the links between biodiversity, livelihoods and climate resilience. Her work has centred on bringing together diverse partners, from local organisations to international funders, to unlock resources and enable system‑level change.
Her work is grounded in a strong belief in the nature–climate–people nexus, and in the importance of aligning finance, partnerships and policy to protect and restore ecosystems at scale.
Hannah holds a Master’s degree in Ecology and Natural Resource Management, and has further specialised in business sustainability and impact finance through executive programmes at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership and Oxford Saïd Business School.
Having grown up in a diplomatic family, Hannah spent much of her early life living across Asia, Africa and Europe, shaping her global outlook and her instinct for connecting people and ideas across cultures.
