UN Ocean Conference 2022

Scaling up Ocean Action Based on Science and Innovation for the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: Stocktaking, Partnerships and Solutions.

We are about to embark on a new adventure at the UN Ocean Conference 2022, which this year will be held from 27 June to 1 July in Lisbon, Portugal. The goal of this conference is to deliver science-driven innovations and solutions to a multidimensional crisis driven by climate change, overfishing, habitat loss and pollution of the oceans.

A special side event will be organized by the Charles Darwin Foundation, the Government of Ecuador and partners on 1 July. Side events are an opportunity to share knowledge and solutions to accelerate the implementation of SDG 14, identify new and emerging issues, and exchange national experiences and practices. Our side event aims to dive into effective MPA implementation globally while highlighting the specific experience of Galapagos and the Eastern Tropical Pacific. It will also explore innovative planning, finance tools and strategies and celebrate the 2022 Blue Park Awards.
